The time, energy, and resources that go into a successful job search can be consuming. Here are tips for staying motivated and sticking with your job search:

  • Define the role you’re seeking and set the goal.
  • Visualize yourself in your new job. Refer to this picture of yourself throughout your job search.
  • Put yourself first.
  • Set a few weekly goals so you can track progress and appreciate results. An example of a weekly goal might be: network with five people per week.
  • Reward yourself for making new connections and winning interviews.
  • Focus on your strengths.
  • Take breaks from the job search process whether on a daily or weekly basis. Remember what they say about all work and no play …
  • Picture success. The more clearly you picture a positive outcome, the sooner this outcome will become reality.
  • Surround yourself with supportive and positive people who will remind you how important this next step in your career is to you.
  • Have fun and enjoy the process. Yes, I really did say that. It’s possible.
