I Was Really Clear in the Email I Sent

If you believe you were really clear about what you expect or what needs to be done next by expressing it in email, the truth is you didn’t get your point across. Tough conversations are exactly that. Tough. What we all want most at times is to be able to have those tough conversations in email to avoid what can be uncomfortable face-to-face discussions.

Email isn’t a substitute for discussion or true and meaningful exchange of feedback.  It’s also not the best way to assess the satisfaction level belonging to members of your team or whether they embrace the realities of their performance.

How often do you find yourself using email as your “go-to” for having conversation? It’s probably time to step away from your keyboard. You may be surprised by what you learn. And, it’s probably different than what you expect.
